Big G Box Tops
Coordinates the collection of box tops from General Mills products: puts boxes or bags in classrooms at the beginning of the year; promotes the program in the school to encourage participation; gives reports on collection of box tops; submits box tops to General Mills for credit to school; and ensures that the school receives check from General Mills.
Book Donation Program
Works with the School Librarian to develop a list of books needed in the School Library for those people who want to make book or media donations to the School Library.
Schedules volunteers to help sell books at the book fairs.
Clean-up and Garden Committee
This committee chair coordinates the clean-up of the playground areas in the late summer (before school opens) and in the spring. Any additional areas are considered as approved by the principal. This committee chair coordinates the maintenance of the gardens.
The drama club presents a play each year, in the Spring. Past performances included Fiddler on the Roof, Alladin, and Annie.
The Chair coordinates the annual PTO dance which is scheduled for the Spring; selects theme, sells tickets; obtains DJ; decorates Church Hall; provides refreshments; provides family portrait service; and offers raffles.
Harvest Festival PTO Booths
The PTO traditionally has an ice cream booth and a Bake Sale Booth at the Harvest Festival. This person coordinates and obtains all necessary items for the creation of sundaes and the donation of baked goods for the duration of the day-long festival.
This person ensures that refreshments are provided for school sponsored events. Currently, these events entail the Christmas concert, the Veritas Award reception in January and the General PTO Membership Meetings at the beginning and end of the year. This chair also works closely with the Room Parent Coordinator to organize luncheons for the faculty and staff throughout the year.
Hot Lunch Program Forms Coordinator
This person distributes and collects forms for the hot lunch program; all forms need to be tallied and totaled on a weekly basis.
Mass and Breakfast with St. Nick
Typically scheduled on the first Saturday of December, the “Mass and Breakfast with St. Nick” event is offered for a nominal charge. This committee chair schedules the mass, provides a continental breakfast, provides a visit with St. Nick complete with photos and raffle prizes.<
This person provides the quick turnaround of the PTO Directory at the beginning of the school year. It includes: distribution of forms with permission letter with a suspense date; input of data; proofreading; reproduction; distribution of order forms; filling orders throughout the school year.
This Chair coordinates the room parent roster to ensure that every grade has a room parent. Room parent is viewed as a ministry and therefore, we room parents foster a positive relationship with the teacher and parents—especially to new families. Room parents assist in supporting school events, programs, and activities; call parents in their grade as required; and organize a simple class-only event to promote fellowship in that grade.
